Year-long Matamata-Piako Volleyball Project concludes

Throughout 2025, Volleyball Waikato has delivered volleyball sessions across schools in the Matamata-Piako region (Matamata, Te Aroha, and Morrinsville). We extend our sincere thanks to the Tu Manawa Fund, supported by Sport New Zealand and administered by Sport Waikato for providing the funding that made this project possible.

Led by our Development Manager Seth Phork and his delivery team, the programme introduced students to the fundamentals of volleyball and the principles of the game. More than 20 schools participated, giving thousands of young people the opportunity to experience volleyball in a variety of settings, including indoor, grass and beach volleyball!

The project concluded this Friday with the Matamata-Piako Volleyball Festival being held at the Silver Ferns Farm Events Centre in Te Aroha. We had 30 teams coming together to celebrate and showcase what has been achieved throughout the year!
